The Reformation is running out of steam. Protestantism is experiencing a ongoing decline. Society no longer attributes the same authority to Protestantism's interpretation of the world, its view of 'the way things are'.
What to do? Much of mainline Protestantism is either hunkering down and giving up, or skipping from one church gimic to another, or worst of all, confusing doing church with being patriotic.
When it is time for rethinking and renewal, maybe we should take another look at Paul. After all, wasn't he a change agent and force for renewal in the very beginning. And besides, what could be more Lutheran than rediscovering Paul?
