We sing, we pray, we read selections from the Bible, we have a time of teaching based on the readings, and we celebrate life together by sharing the
Lord's Supper. In general the services follow a format that flows from
forgiveness and reconciliation, to learning and personal growth, to celebration. We try to identify a central theme or focus at each service, and we work hard at
making the music the very best it can be.
Not to worry. The service bulletin contains most everything that goes
on in the service, in chronological order. And the pastor reinforces this
with verbal information at the beginning of the service. Besides, we are
not that formal, and have a low key tradition of adjusting as needed.
The Lord's Supper, or Holy Communion, is a tradition that dates back to the
beginnings of the church. We share bread and wine, as did Jesus with his
closest followers, just before his death. It is a celebration of our life
together with God, and with each other. We welcome all baptized Christians
who wish to join with us. We offer grape juice as an alternative to wine
for those who so desire.
There is a range of styles, from formal to casual, really a cross section at every service. In short, there is no
hidden dress code. Wear what seems comfortable to you.
We have some! And we enjoy them. For children five and under we
provide a nursery service during the Sunday worship hour, if you wish.
Many prefer to bring their children with them in the service, and only use the
nursery as an "emergency" backup. We are used to having young children
present. We offer a special children's message as a part of the service,
and we offer an educational hour for them after Sunday morning service.
You are in good company. Jesus wasn't either. And the
congregation represents a cross section of different backgrounds. If
you are interested, the Pastor and others in the congregation can certainly
answer questions you might have about Lutherans. And if you want to pursue
those questions more formally, periodic introductory classes are offered. Some use these classes as preparation for formally joining the church, but
others participate for their own benefit, without obligation.

Yes, that is the way most people feel about a new church. But the old
timers don't necessarily know everyone either. And hey, the coffee after
service is hot. We have some nice round tables in the fellowship hall, conducive to
conversation. Relax. Introduce yourself.
