Kokomo Urban Outreach

Kokomo Urban Outreach is a growing network of churches, individuals and organizations who have a heart for hometown missions.

Along with other Kokomo churches, CLC is developing a working and expanding relationship with KUO.  CLC's direct contact with KUO is Lenore Kane, a member of CLC's Service Committee, who also serves as a board member of KUO.

CLC members have worked with KUO in many ways:

• collection of hats, mittens and socks for KUO distribution to kids
• focus on Buddy Bag preparation
• substantial planning and behind the scenes assistance for KUO's community auction
• Youth financial collection for KUO on Superbowl Sunday, which generated over $400

Project EAT (Everyone Ate Today)

 Food is empowerment!  Project EAT includes a number of food pantries throughout Kokomo, Buddy Bags of food that school kids can take with them Fridays for the weekend, and Friday and Sunday night cooked meals at 7 different locations throughout the city.

CLC supports these KUO programs through Christ's Cupboard, our on-going food collection drive which in turn is sent to the food pantries across the city.We collect food each week.  Look for the 'food wagon' in the gathering area.  CLC has decided to give this activity special emphasis in 2011.

Baby University

Baby University is an opportunity for parents to enrich their parenting skills. Baby University is geared toward families with children under the age of five.

The classes are taught by experts in child development. Baby University is a collaborative effort between Early Childhood Education Center, Family Services, Bona Vista, Purdue Extension, Howard County Library and Kokomo Urban Outreach.

CLC has volunteers serving as "table monitors" for one on one conversation, as well as behind the scenes help.
