Quilting Group
Each Wednesday,
five or six women meet at the church at 9:30 a.m. to make quilts to
give to the local community. Using donated cotton fabric, they
make about 20 quilts per year which are given to the Crisis Center,
CAM, Gilead House, and Open Arms at the Rescue Mission. In
2010, the KUO auction received two quilts, and Gilead House received
one for their auction.
Members of the
congregation who are facing serious illness, or those people moving
to assisted living sites are presented with a quilt made especially
for them. Baby and youth quilts are also contributed to present to
young children in stressful situations. Each new baby in the
congregation also receives a quilt.
New members are
more than welcome. No sewing skills are necessary, only a love of
fabric and color for the planning the quilts.
